Toby Maguire on Spiderman 4
Maguire is willing to continue portraying his role as the friendly neighborhood Spiderman on the upcoming Spiderman 4. So all Maguire fans out there, get yourself ready!
"I would assume that they're going to make more Spider-Man movies," said Toby Maguire. "I've had such a good time making them. For me, it all depends on if there's a great story for me, Peter Parker. If Raimi is there, I'd be definitely excited to consider that possibility."
Maguire stated before that he would not make Spider-Man 4, but it seems like he's ready once again to conquer the heroic world.
"We just have a lot of fun making the movies," he said. "We want to make it more exciting, more fun for the fans, and we're just trying to satisfy ourselves at the same time."
We've done an amazing job at keeping things fresh," Maguire said. "But, it's hard to imagine continuously coming up with stories that deserve to be told. I'm not sure if there are more stories for this character that are interesting enough to be excited about doing more."
Well, it seems like everyone must be patient to wait for the next film. Sure enough people still want Maguire to continue his role, but it's still up for him to decide. We still can never tell. Things might change in the future, but we will let everyone know the latest update about this film.

Spider-Man will continue
At some point within the next two weeks, producer Laura Ziskin and the top brass of Sony Pictures Entertainment will sit down together for the first time since "Spider-Man 3" opened May 4 to discuss the franchise's future.
It's a crucial meeting, all the more so because director Sam Raimi will be there. And Raimi, who has sent contradictory messages about his future plans, might at last indicate whether he'll helm the next installment.
"It would be great to have everybody back," Ziskin says. "But no one is going to sign on the dotted line until we have a script. These are the questions being discussed now. The one thing we have answered definitively is: There will be more 'Spider-Man' movies. We just haven't answered what shape they will come in and (Sony) hasn't given us a release date."
The upcoming meeting "will be the first step in a process," Ziskin adds. "'Spider-Man' will continue; I can't tell you every person who will be involved."
It goes without saying just how critical the "Spider-Man" franchise is to the studio's bottom line; at press time, the franchise had netted upwards of $2 billion in boxoffice receipts, not to mention home video revenue and other income from ancillary ventures. But it is hardly unique in today's Hollywood.

Spider-Man Without Maguire! Avi Arad Sets us Straight
Here's what Mr. Arad said...
"No, never conclusions. This story has been going on a long time and it will continue going. There's some issues that will come not to an end but to a conclusion, but Peter Parker's story will continue forward. He's still young. The love story will always be the ruling thing in his life. It's always about the girl so, no, it's just number three."
A few years back, after the tremendous success of Spidey #1, Avi Arad admitted that they wanted to make at least 6 movies or more--as long as there was a demand and continued box office success.

MNEW Spider-Man 3 Trailer Devoted to Venom!
Hey fellow comic book movie fans! I just got back from the midnight showing of 300, and besides the obvious news that the Spartan/Persian movie is excellent, I have some neato trailer news to tell ya. You'll get to see a nifty new Spidey 3 preview the likes you haven't yet seen. The newest Spidey 3 trailer doesn't even touch on Sandman. There is a miniscule bit with Harry Osbourne in his Gobby duds. What you will see is an awesome montage of Venom bits that confirm he will not simply be a set-up villain in this movie, but a major player. |

MaGuire talks about Spider-man 3 dark-side
iF MAGAZINE: How do you handle being a good guy and a dark guy in this movie?
TOBEY MAGUIRE: First of all, I dont really look at it like a good guy or a bad guy, although he does make some choices that I think are going to be a little shocking for people, and fans will be surprised at Peter going down that road. This is something Sam [Raimi] and I worked a lot on because we dont want to lose the audience caring for the character, but we do want to push it. We dont want to make it too scary, we want it to be dark, but still have some humor and some fun with it. So were constantly working on the exact tone of it. I had a lot of fun doing it as an actor. Theres a different side of Peter Parker.
iF: What do you think are the themes in this movie it seems to be revenge?
MAGUIRE: Yeah, I think vengeance, forgiveness, theres the big theme of the franchise with great power comes great responsibility which I think is a blanket idea of having - Peters learning lessons in each movie, they may be slightly different lessons, but they can all fall under that umbrella. I think there are a lot of themes running through the film and it all depends what you get from it, I guess.
iF: There are three villains in this film, and maybe even four including you, the dark side, did you have a favorite?
MAGUIRE: Including me, I would probably have to say me.
iF: Did you like playing the villain?
MAGUIRE: I had a good time doing that. It was more of an internal battle. Building his story arc was fun in terms of the villains outside of myself, I think they are all so different and I appreciate them for what they are. Sandman was a villain from the comic books that I always wanted to see in a Spiderman movie. I was really excited about that. I think we tied him into Peters story line very well. Terry Osborne that was the cliffhanger from the second movie. That one was probably the most emotional.
iF: Is there a significance of Peter Parker getting rid of the dark suit in a church?
MAGUIRE: The setting we felt would be dramatic and would have certain weight, but I dont think anybody thought it would have a specific comment.

NBC Airs 7 Minute Exclusive Clip of Spider-Man 3 Movie
Last night 3/5/2007 during "Heroes" NBC showed an exclusive commercial of Spider-Man 3 and then had up a 7 minute clip of the battle between Spider-Man and Harry (son of Goblin) Osbourne. Decked out in all of Gobby's high tech armor and doo-hickeys, Harry made a good match for the webslinger--although we don't know what they will be calling new alter ego. In the comics, Harry became the second Green Goblin, and there has been much rumor that maybe in the movie continuity he would become the first Hobgoblin, but he looks like neither. |
